Overview of the new models

The new generation is built around a shared hardware platform featuring a 2.4GHz octa-core processor, 7000mAh battery, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3. As a result, these devices are increasingly evolving into full-fledged mobile computers that not only collect data but also perform a large part of processing locally within the logistics chain.

The main differences lie in memory, WWAN support, IP rating, and scan engines, allowing the choice to become increasingly tailored to specific warehouse use cases. The new lineup is divided into two product families:

Skorpio series (X40 / X45): The Skorpio series consists of compact 4” handheld devices primarily aimed at WiFi-first warehouse environments and standard processes such as receiving, picking, and internal transfers.

Falcon series (X60 / X65): The Falcon series targets heavier industrial applications where higher performance, extra ruggedness, and broader connectivity are required. With larger displays and more advanced hardware capacity, these devices are suitable for more complex workflows, higher transaction density, and environments where continuity is critical.

To better understand how these two product families differ in practice, it is important to look at their key functional characteristics. While both series share the same technological foundation, they are optimized for different levels of operational complexity within warehouse and industrial environments. The following sections highlight the main differences in connectivity, display, performance, and ruggedness.

1. Connectivity

Skorpio X40 / Falcon X60: no WWAN (Wi-Fi only)
Skorpio X45 / Falcon X65: 5G support

This difference is relevant in the ERP chain: devices with WWAN can communicate more directly and independently with backend systems, while Wi-Fi-only devices are heavily dependent on the internal warehouse infrastructure.

2. Display

Skorpio series: 4” compact display
Falcon series: 4.3” larger display

The larger screens in the Falcon series support more complex workflows, such as detailed order information or multi-step validations directly on the device.

3. Memory and performance

Skorpio series: 6GB RAM
Falcon series: 8GB RAM

More memory in practice means more capacity for:

  • local caching of scans
  • offline workflows
  • simultaneous WMS and ERP applications
4. Ruggedness and industrial suitability

Skorpio series: IP67, drop resistance up to 1.8 meters
Falcon series: IP68, drop resistance up to 2.4 meters

This directly determines usability in harsh logistics environments where dust, moisture, and physical impact are part of daily operations.

5. Camera and additional functionality

Skorpio X40 / X45: 13MP rear camera
Falcon X60 / X65: 13MP rear + 8MP front camera

Camera functionality is increasingly becoming part of the logistics process, for example for:

  • damage inspection
  • proof of delivery/registration
  • quality inspections
6. Scan engines: the core of the chain

The scan engine largely determines how flexible a device is within the ERP ecosystem.
