Barry Jonkers from Reverse IT recalls the start of the collaboration with GVT at the end of 2020, when the company was looking for a mobile alternative to their existing onboard computers. Reverse IT supplied five Zebra TC26 PDAs for a trial period and implemented the SOTI MobiControl EMM platform for centralized and remote management. During the testing phase, Reverse IT provided technical support and guidance, ensuring the trial went smoothly through detailed demonstrations and explanations.

Three focus points

When renewing their hardware, GVT had three main objectives, as Chris Sauerbier from GVT explains: an improved solution for drivers, an optimized goods registration process, and better manageability by the IT department.

The combination of Logi-App software and the robust MDM system plays a key role in achieving these goals. SOTI's MDM software automates and controls device installations, providing the IT department with the ability to offer remote support, which is especially useful for issues on the road.

GVT no longer has to worry about updates and security. With SOTI MobiControl, both software updates and security patches are deployed centrally. Additionally, Reverse IT helped lock down Android, preventing unauthorized use of the PDAs.

After a successful trial phase, all GVT drivers for fine-grained distribution were equipped with the compact Zebra TC26 Android PDAs, which feature a fast 1D/2D scanner and deliver the performance needed for the Logi-App. The complete package of both hardware and MDM software is now working to full satisfaction:
“We are very pleased with the practical solutions that Reverse IT has provided us. They are a great sparring partner with a lot of expertise,” concludes Sauerbier.
