HANOS, an international hospitality wholesaler, has been working with Reverse IT for seven years. A major project was recently completed with the integration of SOTI MobiControl. This system now manages more than 1,700 Zebra devices, which have replaced outdated Windows CE scanners. Marcel de Boef, system administrator at HANOS, shares his experience on the choices made and the cooperation with Reverse IT.
Mobile Managed Services from Reverse IT
In 2022, HANOS decided to switch to SOTI MobiControl to manage their mobile devices. This was prompted by several device management challenges. For example, a clear overview of which devices were being used at which locations was missing, and taking over a device remotely was only possible via TeamViewer, which required users on site to give explicit permission. According to Marcel, there were numerous reasons for choosing SOTI MobiControl, and the switch offered a solution to these challenges.
HANOS selected Reverse IT as its partner for the implementation of SOTI MobiControl because of their expertise and quick response time. Reverse IT immediately offered appropriate solutions for some specific challenges, including the use of scripting to distribute Velocity Wldep files to the appropriate branches, which was a key factor in the decision-making process. In addition to the successful implementation of SOTI MobiControl, HANOS now also uses Reverse IT's Mobile Managed Services. Marcel is very satisfied with the cooperation: ‘The support is perfect, there is nothing to criticise about it. Moreover, we can communicate directly with SOTI support, which is also excellent.’
Replacement of devices
SOTI is deployed to manage a large number of newly acquired devices within HANOS. The outdated Windows CE scanner fleet has been completely replaced by Zebra scanners, including hundreds of devices for order pickers and drivers. In addition, frost-resistant scanners have been implemented specifically for frozen and order-pick work, used in both shops and distribution centres. Forklift drivers in the distribution centres also now work with the latest technology. Moreover, access controls are now managed with advanced devices, giving HANOS a total of some 1,700 devices in operation.
Long-term cooperation
The integration of SOTI MobiControl was not the first project HANOS and Reverse IT have undertaken together. The collaboration began seven years ago with the rental of additional scanners for peak periods. This collaboration has continued ever since, with Reverse IT also taking on the repair of devices. Over the years, more than 2,000 devices have been repaired. HANOS is very satisfied with the cooperation, not only because of the affordable service, but also because of the fast and efficient handling of repairs. Reverse IT is known for its ability to move quickly, which has contributed immensely to the success of the cooperation.
Currently, even the entrance gates in all HANOS branches are managed via SOTI MobiControl. While the delivery of the new scanners is still in full swing, Marcel is already looking ahead to future possibilities. Once the roll-out and tuning of the scanners are largely completed, they want to explore which other devices can be managed centrally via SOTI.
The possibilities are extensive. Besides scanners, other devices, running on Android, iOS, Windows or Linux, can also be efficiently managed with SOTI MobiControl. This flexibility opens the door to further optimisation and centralisation of management at HANOS.
