To optimize their logistics processes in the Dynalogic and Leen Menken hubs, DynaGroup was looking for a new mobile sorting solution. This gave them the opportunity to replace the outdated Windows CE devices with an Android solution. They were looking for a robust system to minimize device downtime, which had been a significant issue in the past. Additionally, they needed new devices capable of scanning barcodes accurately both up close and from a distance of up to 2 meters. From an IT perspective, there was a need for an integrated solution that could remotely monitor their devices and easily register and implement them via a central platform.

DynaGroup set an ambitious timeline with the goal of completing the rollout and full implementation of the project within four months. At the same time, they faced unexpected volume growth, partly caused by the impact of COVID-19. This created the need for a solution that would allow them to monitor their mobile devices across various locations.

At that time, DynaGroup had limited visibility into the status of their devices. They were looking for a way to detect damage to a device, such as when it had fallen. Additionally, they wanted to monitor the battery status so that batteries could be proactively replaced to ensure maximum uptime and productivity. For the IT team, it was also important to track the location of the devices in real time.

The solution

DynaGroup needed an innovative solution to support their expansion plans. In collaboration with Honeywell and Reverse IT, they developed a combination of hardware and software that perfectly met their needs.

The chosen solution was the Honeywell CT60 XP DRH mobile computer. This rugged, user-friendly device quickly became popular among staff. Thanks to the built-in FlexRange™ technology, it could scan barcodes at distances ranging from 10 cm to 10 meters, without requiring employees to bend or stretch. This provided extra comfort and efficiency during long shifts.

The CT60 XP DRH is built on the Honeywell Mobility Edge™ platform, giving DynaGroup the flexibility to adapt their investment and future-proof it. The platform offers a longer lifecycle, improved performance, and higher security, and is compatible with Android up to version 13.

To gain real-time insight into the location, status, and performance of the devices, DynaGroup used Honeywell's Operational Intelligence software. This asset management platform allows them to optimize the productivity of their mobile workforce while remotely monitoring device battery status and any fall incidents. It also helps the IT department to plan and implement updates in a timely manner.

An outlook for the coming years

DynaGroup aims to roll out the new hardware as quickly as possible across all their business units.

Both Honeywell and Reverse IT are now included in their IT roadmap for the future. The company plans to further implement the new software to replace existing competing products. Additionally, they want to fully leverage the capabilities of Operational Intelligence to gain better insight into all their devices, including integration with drivers in the DynaGroup fleet.
